Gabrielle Romney

Gabrielle Romney was born Gabrielle Ambroisine Bryan to Charles Bryan and Susanne Parotte on March 18, 1940, in Grand Case, St. Martin.  She was the youngest of their 12 children.

She attended school on the Dutch side of the island and left St Martin to live and work in Puerto Rico and then St. Croix.  It was in St. Croix, where she married Charles Romney and gave birth to their only child, Maverick before immigrating to New York.  Shortly after moving to NY, she moved to Staten Island where she worked as a certified nursing assistant.

In the 1990’s she moved to Michigan and worked for the Rosen family as a home health care aid.  She would travel with them back and forth to Miami.  She loved Miami so much she decided to retire there.  She spent most of the next few years traveling between the US and St Martin.  In 2017, she returned to the US after Hurricane Irma.

Gabrielle was fondly known as Gabou by all who loved and adored her including the wonderful nursing staff at Ashbrook Nursing facility in Scotch Plains, NJ.  On her best days she would walk their halls for hours and greet everyone with a smile.

Gabou took her last breath on December 24, 2021, and she leaves behind a very large extended family- too numerous to mention.  We will all miss her immensely and keep with us the fondest memories to warm our hearts forever.
