John C. Scherzo

John C. Scherzo 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Elizabeth on August 3, 2016. Born and raised in Newark before moving to Elizabeth in 1953 where he lived for the last 62 years. John was an Army WWII veteran proudly serving with the 330th Infantry. He worked as a welder, but mainly was an automotive mechanic.

Mr. Scherzo is predeceased by his wife Fortunata M (Nee Volpe) in 1992. He is survived by his two daughters Philomena Scherzo of Elizabeth and Michele Koenig and her husband John of Naples, Florida. His brother James Scherzo of Westfield and sister Lucy Scherzo of Newark. Also surviving are two grandchildren John Anthony Silva and Matthew Koenig.

Visitation will be held on Monday August 8 from 10 AM – 11 AM at Las Rosas Bannworth Funeral Home, 1055 East Jersey Street, Elizabeth, NJ followed by a prayer service at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. www.lrbfh.com
