Leon A. Rybarczyk age 90 on April 30, 2016 at Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth. Leon was born in Perth Amboy where he lived until his marriage in 1949 then moving to Elizabeth where he resided for the last 66 years. Leon was a Navy Seabees WWII veteran with active duty in the South Pacific. Mr. Rybarczyk was a retired refrigeration serviceman of Apexel at the Maher Terminal of Elizabeth Port Authority and former employee of the Dolly Madison Ice Cream Co., for 25 years. He was an active member of the Holy Rosary/St. Michael’s Parish in Elizabeth where he was an usher and former president of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Refrigeration Service and Engineering Society since 1953, life member, treasurer and board of director of the Union Pleasure Circle of Elizabeth, VFW Post #335, Cranford, and Knights of Columbus #235 of Elizabeth. He was also a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post #91 of Elizabeth and American Legion Argonne Post #6 of Elizabeth.
Leon was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years Wanda Rybarczyk (nee Zuck) in 2015 and also his sister Dorothy Vazquez of Deming, NM.
Surviving are his 4 sons, Michael of Farmingdale, NJ, John of Maplewood, NJ, Chris of Edison, NJ, and Carl of Weston, Florida and daughter Joanne Gohn of Dover PA. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren.
Visitation will take place at Las Rosas-Bannworth Funeral Home, 1055 E. Jersey Street, Elizabeth on Wednesday May 4 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Mass of the Resurrection Thursday 10am, Holy Rosary/St. Michael’s Church, Elizabeth. Interment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
