It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Omar Alcolea, who left this world on January 24, 2025, at the age of 87. Omar was a beloved husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and a constant source of love and strength for his family.

For 30 wonderful years, Omar was the devoted husband of Arelis Alcolea, with whom he built a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they created a family that was at the center of his world. He was the proud father of Jenny Mercedes and Nancy Roa, and his love for his daughters knew no bounds. As a grandfather to five, Omar found immense joy in watching his grandchildren grow and thrive, always there to offer guidance and encouragement.

Omar was a man of action, always on the go and rarely sitting still. His boundless energy and drive were an inspiration to all who knew him. Whether it was running errands, tackling projects, or simply lending a hand, Omar’s presence was a constant reminder of his dedication to those he loved. He was a man of remarkable punctuality, someone you could always count on to be there—not just on time but with his whole heart.

In his quieter moments, Omar found joy in watching war films, a pastime that reflected his deep respect for courage, resilience, and history.

Omar’s life was a testament to the values of family, reliability, and love. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are welcome to visit on Thursday, January 30th from 8:30-10:15am in Las Rosas Bannworth Funeral Home, Elizabeth.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11am in St. Catherine of Sienna Roman Catholic Church, Hillside.

Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Hillside.

Durante 30 maravillosos años, Omar fue el dedicado esposo de Arelis Alcolea, con quien construyó una vida llena de amor, risas y apoyo inquebrantable. Juntos, formaron una familia que era el centro de su mundo. Fue el orgulloso padre de Jenny Mercedes y Nancy Roa, y su amor por sus hijas no conocía límites. Como abuelo de cinco nietos, Omar encontró una inmensa alegría al ver crecer y prosperar a sus nietos, siempre dispuesto a ofrecer orientación y apoyo.

Omar era un hombre de acción, siempre en movimiento y rara vez quieto. Su energía inagotable y su impulso fueron una inspiración para todos los que lo conocieron. La familia y los amigos están invitados a visitar el jueves 30 de enero de 8:30 a 10:15 a.m. en la funeraria Las Rosas Bannworth, Elizabeth.

Se llevará a cabo una Misa de Exequias Cristianas a las 11 a.m. en la iglesia católica romana St. Catherine of Sienna, Hillside.

El entierro se realizará posteriormente en el cementerio Evergreen, Hillside.
