Repatriation

Many families choose to send their loved ones home to their country of origin to be laid to rest. The team at Scarpa Las Rosas and Las Rosas Bannworth are experts in this special process which is commonly called “repatriation”.

What is Repatriation?

Repatriation is the process of preparing and transporting the deceased to another country for final services and internment (burial or placement of cremated remains).

What happens during the Repatriation process?

  • The Team at Las Rosas will embalm the deceased person and prepare them for services. You will need to provide clothing and any photos that depict hair and makeup preferences.
  • We will contact a funeral home in your country of choice to partner on services and planning. You may select a desired funeral home of your choosing or we can suggest one.
  • We will book a flight to transport the deceased based on arranged services and will manage all aspects of travel
  • We will ensure appropriate tracking of flights, necessary documentation and confirmation that your loved one has been picked up by the Funeral Home in your country of choice for final services.

The Las Rosas Team has an extensive network of partner funeral homes across Central and South America. We provide door-to-door, white glove service for the care and transportation of your loved one.

What does Repatriation cost?

Please contact the funeral home as costs may vary based on flights and countries.

To which countries do you offer repatriation?

We can support repatriation to any country you choose. Below is a list of countries where we have dedicated contacts:

  • Mexico
  • Guatemala
  • El Salvador
  • Ecuador
  • Colombia

If I have my loved one cremated in the U.S. and wish to travel with their remains to another country for memorial services, what do I need to do?

There is necessary documentation that must be completed prior to taking cremated remains on a flight or other method of transport. Watch this helpful video and contact the team at Las Rosas for any questions. We would be more than happy to help you.
